I’ve been loving separates lately and the skirt obsession is really awesome. As a curvy girl myself, how to wear a pencil skirt was something always on my mind because I’m curvy and short. So, I shopped my closet this Sunday, and I decided to pair this long, mauve bodycon skirt with a lovely flared shoulder top. For me, it was about balancing the sleek pencil skirt with something fun on the top.
It’s no secret, purple and black are my favorite colors so sometimes I put various shades and hues of those colors together. Another way how to wear a pencil skirt, is to add a belt for separation and shape. The skirt, unfortunately, does not have a wide band like I wanted so I cinched in my waist with a belt. I’ve had this belt for so many years and I really like the silver buckle detail. It added just the right amount of bling to the outfit.
The top is a bodysuit which made it much easier to hide in the skirt. The necklace is a gift from my mother many birthdays ago and I still treasure it today. For shoes, I opted for some sandals with gold details on the bow straps. I kept the makeup soft and clean with just some color on the lips. I pulled my hair out of my face to make sure the flared shoulders on the top got the attention they deserved.
