For many of us our new offices have become our living rooms, bedrooms and at-home office spaces. It can be very tempting to show up to a Zoom meeting straight out of bed, with a blazer, dry face and a quick top bun. We all know that things can always go wrong and let’s face it, the camera on our laptops will not do us any favors, making the smallest pimple seem larger that it is in person. So why not put in the effort to look your best? I always believe that when you look your best, you will feel your best! I wanted to share my top 3 zoom meeting makeup tips that have helped me look and feel amazing, even when I only had a short amount of time to get my face all the way together.
1. Accentuate your best feature
What is the one feature on your face that looks good no matter what you do? For me, those would be my cheeks and my lips. I can’t run away from my big cheeks as my mother and father gave me my signature round face. Therefore, I love good blushes that will make them look plump and alive. I am currently obsessed with NARS Orgasm X blush and the Covergirl Trublend So Flushed blush line. Hot Frenzy is my fave from that collection.
I live for a good lippie so I always try to reach for colors that work with my outfit and will make my lips look healthy and moisturized. Go for neutral colors for a base that goes with everything, and take it up a notch with a matching gloss. If you prefer more of a pout, use a darker lip liner to outline your lips, and then go in with a color of your choice.
2. Play up your eyes
For a boost of confidence, I would suggest playing up your eyes. I always imagine myself looking like a deer in headlights if I don’t have my lashes or brows on. While this may not be for you, there is something sexy about a good pair of false lashes and a defined brow. For lashes, I prefer the Ardell Remy 778 or the Kiss Lash Couture Luxtensions in Royal Silk. If you prefer no false lashes, use a mascara that will provide you with length and volume. I recommend the Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara and the Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift Mascara. For brows, my new favourite is the Benefit Precisely, My Brow pencil.
As for eyeshadow, I would keep it simple. I would rather not use eyeshadow at all or I’d use a color that is 2 shades darker or at least close to my skin tone. MAC Saddle eyeshadow is a staple for my zoom meeting eye looks. This way, you don’t look like you are going to a party, but still have some definition to the eyes on camera.
3. Strive for Matte or natural finish for your skin
If you are sitting in front of your window or even if you have a good ring light at home, light will always touch the high points on your face. If you are oily or combination skin like me, your natural oils are going to highlight somewhere on your face as well.
You don’t want to look overly shiny, so go for a matte or natural finish foundation. The Too Faced Born this way Matte 24 hour foundation is an excellent choice for a matte finish, because it’s not a drying matte but a more skin like look. For something more natural, I would recommend the Shiseido Synchro Skin Self Refreshing foundation as it is oil-free and hydrates the skin throughout the day.
I hope you will find ways to make my top 3 zoom meeting makeup tips your very own and incorporate them into your routine. I would love to see your looks, so make sure to follow and tag me on Instagram.
