The Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara ( $29) provides length, lift and volume to any set of lashes. I have found myself reaching for this mascara every day due to its ultra black, light weight formula.
I love mascara and this one from Hourglass would be my first non-drugstore purchase! I was excited to pick it up because it’s vegan, cruelty-free and 5% of proceeds would be donated to the Nonhuman rights project, which to me really shows a brand that is doing something and not just slapping a cruelty-free bunny on their packaging.
The gold packaging on this mascara is exquisite and a real treat to use. It has a bit of weight to it, adding to the luxe aesthetic. There is a mild scent to the mascara, but not like heavy perfume. You would have to put your nose right up against the wand to really smell it.
The wand is a plastic, comb-like brush, but it is not stiff, hard or uncomfortable. The bristles are tapered and gradually get smaller as they get to the tip of the brush to target every lash, making my eyes look wide awake.
The Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara uses film-forming technology to coat each lash in lightweight fibers that lock in place. While I enjoyed wearing this mascara because it did not flake at all during wear, taking off this mascara is the fun part, in my opinion. It does not dissolve or smear, but clumps together as it slides off your lashes. This creates less mess during makeup removal and I’m sure nothing is left behind, which I think is amazing, especially for first time mascara wearers.
