Too Faced Born This Way Matte 24hr Foundation ($40) is a full coverage foundation with a matte finish. It is available in 35 shades and I chose the color Chai, which is described on the website as a deep shade with golden undertones.
The packaging is very nice as the foundation is nestled in a frosted glass bottle complete with pump for easy application. The consistency of the foundation is thick, but it has a bit of movement. The formula is infused with ingredients like Alpine Rose, Coconut water and one of my favourites, Hyaluronic Acid. This formula also claims to not only be “life proof” but also:
- Oil-free
- Waterproof
- Transfer proof
- Undetectable
- Super longwearing
- 24 hour wear
During application, this foundation was easy to work with and a little goes a long way. As for coverage, this is a full coverage foundation, that is also buildable. With one pass using my beautyblender, I found myself having to go in with a second layer for the more prominent acne scars. I also tried applying this foundation with a buffing brush and it still came out looking great.
Throughout the day, the Too Faced Born This Way Matte 24 hr foundation was very comfortable to wear and felt like nothing was on my skin. I wore this foundation for 5 hours, and it took 1 hour for my oily T-Zone to start coming through.
Therefore, I would not suggest this foundation if you have super oily skin, unless you are confident in your primers and powder for locking everything in. I will say that I appreciate the fact this this is not a flat matte finish for this foundation. It makes your skin look healthy and plump due to the skin-loving ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, but I did expect more from this foundation when it came to oil control capabilities.
If paired with a mattifying primer, I believe the oil-control capabilities of this foundation would hold up a little bit longer. If you are on the hunt for something that is lightweight and will wear well through out the day, I think this Too Faced Born This Way Matte 24hr foundation will be a good one to add to your makeup routine.
