The Shiseido Synchro Skin Self Refreshing Foundation, $47, is a weightless formula that claims to synchronize with skin and self-refreshes during wear for an up to 24-hours, revealing a just-applied, fresh faced look. I’ve always enjoyed Shiseido skincare and their cotton pads are my forever favorites, so I was really excited to find out they had makeup as well!
The foundation has a very fluid texture, yet feels like silk gliding across the skin during application. After one application using a buffer brush, scars or discoloration of the skin will still be visible. It is medium coverage, but can be built up to full coverage upon a second application.
The packaging is very functional as well. The cover has a pump that can be locked and opened with just a turn of it’s head. The container is also a thick, frosted glass that allows you to see the shade and just how much foundation you may have used up.
I would suggest using a brush like the MODA Pro Buffer instead of a sponge to apply the Shiseido Synchro Skin Self Refreshing Foundation because of it’s consistency. This liquid foundation carries an SPF of 30 and provides a natural finish. Here are some other claims of the formula:
- Oil-free
- All-day hydration
- Waterproof, smudge-proof
- Humidity-resistant, transfer-resistant
- Non-comedogenic
- Fragrance-free
After about 3 hours, I noticed a bit of shine around my nose, nothing oily, just natural looking skin. Everywhere else still looked as it did when I first applied. After an additional 4 hours, the oil around the nose area got more intense, but the foundation stayed in place, even after blotting.
I enjoyed wearing the foundation through out the day. It never felt heavy or greasy, even when my skin decided to release the usual oils in my T-Zone. It felt good for a change to wear a foundation that felt good and looked great all dat long.
