Makeup Forever made sure that the holidays would not just roll on by and you not have an amazing eye shadow palette to get you through it. Makeup Forever 15 Artist Shadow Palette ($59 for 0.90 oz) features 15 of their Artist shadows, which are a cult-classic for the brand. The Artist Shadows are something that Makeup Forever pride themselves on being known for.

The long-lasting gel-powder eye shadows with super-saturated pigments for intense color really make this palette a must have this year as it is Limited Edition. These high color pay-off, super blendable shades ranging from bold and bright to soft and subtle, are great for creating looks year round, but especially for the holidays. All of the shades are from the permanent line, so this is a great way to test them out if you were thinking of purchasing them separately. Also, this palette is a better bang for your buck as a single, regular size Artist Shadow is $21.

As far as packaging goes for this palette, I think it’s phenominal. It features the iconic Makeup Forever lips holding the makeup brush in front of a lovely textured burnt orange background. The top of the palette has a magnetic closure and a handy mirror. There is also a nice weight to the packaging as well, making for a very sturdy palette. The palette also comes complete with a step-by-step tutorial booklet to guide you along in terms of how you could use the shadows together. Since you can use shadows in any color combination you see fit, the design of the palette suggests that each column of shadows is meant to be a complete look, which I think is great for beginners.

Although the eyeshadows did perform well, I would say this palette is missing a true matte. Either a warm transition shade or a dark brown matte. Makeup Forever does make amazing matte shadows, so it would have been great to see one or two featured in the palette, especially for those who have never experienced the Makeup Forever matte eyeshadow formula before.

Overall, I really enjoyed using this palette. The tutorial booklet is a great complement as well as I created the look above following the instructions (minus the brushes they have listed) and it turned out great. These shadows have amazing staying power, well past the 8 hour mark and the colors show up vibrant and beautiful.
