Let me start by saying this is the first time since the Covergirl Queen Latifah Queen Collection that I’ve been excited for a Covergirl release. I was stalking the Covergirl Instagram page, when I spotted Issa Rae rocking their foundation. After much digging on their website, I found that they are releasing a new TruBlend Matte Made Liquid Foundation in 40 shades! I do not believe they have had is inclusive of a range in a main lineup before and I’m here for it.
With it’s release during the warmer month’s, I’m happy to see a matte formula. However, Covergirl claims this new formula will not be drying or cakey. They also claim that the formula is developed with “flexi-hold technology” that creates a strong, flexible film on skin for durability and comfort. I’m concerned about this claim considering I’m a combination skin girl myself and I’d hate my skin to feel like there’s a film on it. Covergirl also made mention of mattifying powders absorbing oil in this formulation, complete with a soft matte, flawless finish. If there’s a mattifying powder built in or the finish dries down to a powder, maybe we won’t need a setting powder? We’ll have to wait and see.
