Hello October 2015

A new month is upon us and I want to say Hello, October! You’re here in all your Fall glory. Being any where in the Caribbean is totally different from experiencing fall in the midwest of the United States. It’s always Summer here in The Bahamas, but that does not mean we can’t share in the warm and cozy feeling of a traditional Fall season, when it hits a cool 70° F that is. This year, I find myself welcoming October with more enthusiasm than ever. Not only because my great grand mother is about to celebrate her 100th birthday, but because of all the life changes that I have been going through. I never imagined that I would have traveled across the world as much as I have this year and there will be many more adventures lined up for October.

Things I look forward to this month

Everything PUMPKIN!

From the ever so needed Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Starbucks to the Pumpkin scented candles and pies, I’m here for it all. My love for all things pumpkin did not start until I spent my first fall in my tiny apartment in the middle of Missouri. I was captivated as I watched leaves change for the first time in my life from forest green to hues of yellow, red, orange and even purple. I enjoyed watching others carve pumpkins and as always, sat down to watch my fave series kick off, Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin.

Cozy Sweaters

Sweater weather! As much as I am in love with that Sweater Weather candle from Bath and Body works, sweaters always come out during October and they are basically going to stick around for a while after that. I own too many sweaters and not enough boots it what I always say. There’s just nothing as comforting as finally being able to wear that cashmere sweater you bought during the spring sale earlier in the year. Sweaters are like the uniform of October to really put you in the mood for fall.

Laced Up Heels

As much as I am a boot lover, I have always been in love with laced up heels and what better time to break them out than during the month of October. I step into a black pair of laced up heels and I’m like oh, hello october! Laced up heels are a great way to kick off fall fashion in October because they allow you the straps of the summer, but once those straps are connected, it’s like a faux bootie that’s breathable. The give sexy a whole new look to that skinny jean and cozy sweater look.

Halloween

hello october

Halloween for me growing up was all about getting candy from the German residents that lived in my neighborhood or trying not to get hit in the face with a rotten egg that the boys threw at you trying to get home. Now that I’m much older, the emphasis for me has shifted to watching all the little kids dress up and even the neighbors pets get into the fun in their little costumes. All of the nostalgic reruns of a Halloween classics like Hocus Pocus or Freddy Krueger all get to a once a year chance to grace the television screen once again. The Halloween parties get fun too as an adult with costumes focusing on your sexy side and it seems like everyone was some kind of cat, including me #MEOW!

Let me know in the comments what are you looking forward too this October!

XOXO,

Alex
