The Maui Moisture Shine and Awapuhi shampoo and conditioner ($8.99), is a haircare duo that is formulated for dull hair with 100 per cent aloe as a first ingredient.
This sulfate free duo also contains coconut oil, Tiare flower and Awapuhi. Awapuhi is a ginger flower that claims to infuse dry strands, adding vibrancy and shine.
The Shampoo
Unfortunately, this was the experience I expected. The shampoo, while it cleansed my hair thoroughly, left my curls feeling dry and stripped. There was no shine at all to my hair. The smell was great, but that was not enough to make me love it. If you are in need for an extra cleanse to your hair with no added moisture benefit, this shampoo works great for that.
The Conditioner
As for the conditioner, the formulation is very thick and smells just as lovely as the shampoo. However, does did not have the slip I am used to, so I was not encouraged to detangle my hair with this conditioner.
To be fair, I let it sit on my hair for about three minutes, to penetrate my strands. After rinsing, my hair did appear to have some shine to it, and a touch of softness. However, my hair did not feel moisturized at all and left my hair more tangled than when I started.
In my opinion, the claim that the Maui Moisture Shine and Awapuhi Shampoo and Conditioner is for dull hair, would be a bit of a reach.
I would suggest this line to persons with maybe oily hair or hair that gets greasy and they want a full clean and strip to their hair. I would not recommend this to curly girls looking for both shine and moisture as this did not deliver on that claim for me.
