The Essie Expressie nail polish collection ($9) comes in 40 shades to get your nails glammed in a flash. I purchased the shade called “IRL”, which is described as a grape purple. I am impressed that Essie decided to release the line with not just a few colors, but trans-seasonal nail polish colors so you have lots to choose from.
The formula is very nice, a quality I have come to expect from Essie products. I am glad that Essie did not skimp on the formula for a fast dry one. The color is opaque with one application, but if you want to build intensity, then I would suggest a second coat. Additionally, the Essie Expressie nail polish formula provides one step color and shine that dries in about one minute.
Surprisingly, you do not need a top coat as the formula provides great shine to the nail. One other unique thing I found about this line, was the cut and shape of the application brush. The brush is angled for self-application and works amazingly for both hands! I’m right handed and did not find myself struggling to paint with my left hand as normally would.
Consequently, this is definitely a step in the right direction as it relates to innovation within the nail polish industry. I do hope Essie changes the brushes on their full product line to this angled design.
