For most people, sequin is usually reserved for the holidays and celebrations. This small, shiny disc-like bead is designed to capture the eye and provide texture to any garment. I fell in love with the Odette sequin skirt from Collectif Clothing. Adding a sequin skirt is great way to had some sparkle to your summer wardrobe. In today’s post, I’m going to show you how to wear a sequin skirt casually during these hot summer months. I am a firm believer that once you feel good in something, wear it, no matter the season.
This sequin skirt is surprisingly light weight, has great movement and is super fancy. The luxurious red sequins on this skirt are not big and scratchy, but are small and fine so that they catch the light exceptionally well. The shape of the skirt is very flattering for those with curves as it has a subtle dip hem (shorter in the front, longer in the back). The waist band is comfortable with a V shaped notch cut into the top and the skirt is lined with a polyester satin fabric just for comfort.
Make it stand out
To ensure your sequin skirt stands out, you may be wondering what top do you wear with a sequin skirt? The answer would be something simple depending on the color of the skirt. I wore a black asymmetrical bodysuit with long sleeves. It’s rather on the thin side so I was not hot at all. The asymmetrical neckline added a bit of chic glamour to the look. Also, I kept my heels simple with some perspex ankle black heels (similar) just to keep the focus remaining on the skirt. I also decided to pull my hair up in my signature fan ponytail with simple black earring and rings for accessories.
I’m happy I was able to show you how to wear a sequin skirt today. This skirt gave me so much confidence and really lifted my spirits the minute I put it on. It is a must have piece that can be worn year round. Do you have any sequin items in your closet?
