The JLO Beauty Skincare Set ($64) is an excellent way to try out this new beauty line. I purchased this set and have been using it for the past month. I want to share my review on how the products are performing on my acne-prone combination skin.
But first, let’s discuss the ingredients. JLO Beauty has been highlighting the JLo Beauty Olive Complex, a blend of Squalene, Fermented Oil, Extra Virgin Oil, and Leaf Extract. This complex is designed to deliver rich hydration and it absolutely does that with minimal little effort. I also enjoy the fact that her Olive Complex is high on the ingredient listing, which means that it has a frontline presence in the formulation of these products and was not an afterthought or gimmick.
Another ingredient that stands out is the Japanese Rice Sake Ferment, which is designed to visibly brighten and condition the skin for a more vibrant complexion. Finally, Hyaluronic Acid is also a star ingredient that is super popular and for good reason, because it is proven to deliver continuous hydration for more plumped dewy-looking skin.
I decided on the set instead of individual items because of the excellent value of this hydrating daily regimen. The set includes the JLo Beauty cleanser, serum, moisturizer, and complexion booster in the shade warm bronze.
JLO Beauty skincare set product thoughts
That Blockbuster Wonder Cream with Hyaluronic Acid ($58), is my fave product in the set. It is designed to target fine lines and wrinkles. I really enjoy the consistency of this moisturizer. When you first touch it, it feels like a thick mousse. I warmed it up between my fingers before applying and this rich moisturizer provides instant, long-lasting hydration and a dewy glow to the skin. It moves on the skin easily too. I don’t look greasy wearing it and it did not break me out. The smell is not fragrant but has an earthiness to it.
That JLo Glow Serum with Olive Complex ($79), is a gel serum that targets uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles. The consistency is a bit runny, but still has some mass to it. I must say that I enjoy the tightening that can be seen and felt when putting this on. I really enjoy this serum because my skin also looks smoother and appears lifted too. It absorbs quickly, so I do advise applying quickly. There is a slight smell to it, but it may be from the fermented ingredients: Japanese Rice Sake Ferment and the Yeast-derived Ferment. The Yeast-derived ferment is designed to provide antioxidant and smoothing benefits for softer-feeling skin.
That Star Filter Highlighting Complexion Booster ($39), was the product that I was the least impressed with. It’s a liquid highlighter that gives a shimmer finish. It’s available in 4 shades. The consistency is not runny and it distributes evenly. If you prefer a glowing look without makeup on the high parts of your face, this is a nice product. However, if you were looking for something that would really stand out, this is not it. This gives more of a subtle radiance to the skin, which can be pretty in certain situations.
That Hit Single Gel-Cream Cleanser ($38), is a sulphate-free, silky gel crème cleanser. It does a good job of cleansing the skin without stripping or drying it out. There is a slight smell to this as well, probably due to Glycolipid (Fermented Blend of Grapeseed Oil and Sugar), which works to get rid of excess oil and makeup. This is a very gentle cleanser that did not leave my skin dry or parched.
All things considered, I believe the JLO Beauty Skincare set is a great way to discover the brand. There are a few more products in this line that I mentioned in my initial post when this line first launched that you may be interested in. However, my faves are the That Blockbuster Wonder Cream and the That JLo Glow Serum. I do hope she expands the line to body care because that would definitely be amazing to have her signature glow, all over my body!
