Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil ($30) is a lightweight cream blush balm formulated with hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump skin with a sheer veil of color that can be built up. Available in six shades, I picked up the color Rose Crush. Rose Crush is described as a spiced rose, as it is a warm-toned rose shade. The finish is radiant yet skinlike and I think it is a great way to get started with cream blushes.

A freshly opened blush has no smell and there is a bit of texture on the product which I thought was an interesting touch as opposed to the usual smooth finish you would see on other cream products. The packaging is white with a frosted cover. While it’s refreshing to have white packaging, be prepared to get makeup on this. I do like the frosted top so that I could see the color from the outside.

I applied using my fingers and a brush. Additionally, for a wash of color, I’d go for fingers and for more coverage, a brush is best. I used an angled brush to apply the Makeup by Mario blush veil and the product picked up with no issues.

It also plays well with the Makeup by Mario Surreal skin foundation and did not separate or remove the foundation. I was able to place the setting powder on top with no problems either. To really enhance this or make the color more intense, go over it with a matching powder blush for a more opaque effect.
