KVD Good Apple Foundation Balm Review

The KVD Good Apple foundation balm ($38 for 0.35 oz), is a lightweight, creamy, non-comedogenic formula that offers buildable coverage. The texture is silky on the skin and is easy to apply. This felt like a tinted moisturizer, but without the oil-slick feel.

Available in 40 shades, this vegan foundation is infused with apple extract and sodium hyaluronate. I chose the shade Tan 74, and it was a great match. These ingredients claim to help nourish and hydrate skin.

The KVD Good Apple foundation balm also minimizes the appearance of pores for a smooth, healthy look and a little goes a long way. It offers a fresh matte finish, that looks very natural. I applied this using a dense complexion brush (I prefer the MODA electric completion brush or the MODA Pro buffer) but a beauty sponge is also a nice option. When applying a setting powder to this foundation, I would recommend a powder puff as the foundation can lift from the areas/move around if set with a brush in a swirling motion. If you must use a setting brush, try a patting motion.

The KVD website does say the foundation is best for balanced to dry skin, however, I tried it on my acne-prone combination skin and had no issues that were surprising. My t-zone did not get as oily as I expected with the formula. The only stand-out issue would be that it settled into my smile lines after a few hours, but that’s nothing a little powder foundation and blotting can’t fix.

Overall, I think this is a great foundation for the spring. It covered my acne and eczema scars with not issue. It’s very lightweight, the consistently works great with a brush or sponge and the coverage is excellent.
