Get ready for the most flawless skin of Summer with Make Up For Ever Water Blend Foundation

Make Up For Ever Water Blend Foundation ($43 for 1.69 fl oz) is an amazing reformulation of the already loved Make Up For Ever Face & Body foundation. Make Up For Ever decided to reintroduce and reformulate the Face and Body foundation as Water Blend foundation, and I could not agree more with that concept. First, the new formula is 80% purified water infused with Vitamin B5 to provide hydration and improve elasticity.

Also, the foundation is now waterproof and transfer-proof. In my head I was trying to figure out how a foundation can be more than half water, yet still waterproof? That’s the kind of performance power and skin loving ingredients professionals and consumers alike need to have. The Water Blend formula is coated with micro-fine pigments to improve pigment payoff and skin affinity to guarantee waterproof and transfer-proof results. I tested the transfer proof theory and it definitely held on to my skin, even with no setting powder once it dried down to a skin-like satin finish. The only time I saw any foundation during blotting was after about 10 hour wear on my oily spots only.

As far as application goes, this foundation does well with either a stippling brush, probably a medium fluffy blending synthetic brush, or your trusty fingers. The water-gel texture makes it easy to apply and allows the foundation to be smooth and light. The finish is more on the natural side (dewy, satin skin-like finish) and looks flawless all day. The coverage is buildable, but I’d say coverage can go from sheer, to light, to medium. My deeper acne scars still came through, which is ok if you are going for a more natural look anyway.

Make Up Forever also decided to expand the shade range to include 20 shades that work with the same numbering system as the new Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation. Also, I noticed that unlike the old formulation, this new Water Blend foundation did not have a strong smell. As far as what skin types this foundation is for, I’d say all skin types are able to wear this foundation. Dry skin persons are going to love the dewy/satin finish and may not even need to powder if they so choose. Combination/Oily skin types will need to set this foundation, even though it is long wearing and will not shift or move, oil will eventually break through if not set into place.

This foundation is the closest thing to bare skin I have seen in a long time and I think it comes just in time for the hot, summer days where we won’t need too much makeup, but we still want to look flawless.
