Subscription Beauty Box newness: Essence Beauty Box

The Essence Beauty Box is a monthly subscription box curated for women of color (WOC). Subscription boxes such as this one, are a great way to try and test out deluxe, sample sizes of products without committing to a full size price. The Essence Beauty Box has a three tier price point: one month for $15, 6 months for $12.50 and 12 months for $12.50. Additionally, Essence has decided to include smaller beauty businesses that are Black-owned. I think to include them is amazing because it gives them a chance to reach a broader audience and get potential long term clients.

For each month, the beauty boxes will have a specific theme and the products included will coordinate with said theme. This particular box that I received from Essence is their February box with the theme “Shine like a Star.” This was a decent size sample box and I think the products inside truly reflect the theme whether it be with the Dark & Lovely Au Naturale soak it up oil cocktail or achieving an amazing white smile using the Colgate Optic white toothpaste. One thing I would like to see Essence do with this box is to include an information page with just a small blurb about each product, especially if it’s a product that they know is new to the market.
